THEO'S HOTEL

Theo's Hotel stands in an elevated position with views across a valley.

For the benefit of potential guests who are disabled or who dislike walking and climbing steps these few photographs may be of assistance.

Road from Beach
(Distance about 600 metres)

(Photo below)
The Thomson's Small and Friendly Brochure refers to the Hotel as being up a steep hill. The road from the beach is not steep but does climb gradually.

The steepest part of the road from the beach is the 40 metres or so near the beach up to this corner

Behind the grey car is a little square with a general shop a hotel and the rear entrance to 3 taverna / restaurants.
The beach is one more zig-zag down, similar to the length of road in this photograph. Behind the photographer the road goes to the right and becomes less steep.

The majority of the walk to Theo's is up a slight but continual incline and not really noticeable as people are looking around at things and looking out for traffic / parked cars etc.

Public road outside Theo's
This is typical of the gradient although it is difficult to judge from a photograph. It is still climbing uphill. (If you are walking the other way it does not seem noticeably downhill though !!)

The entrance to Theo's Hotel is steeper however.
The Hotel stands on higher ground than the road and is reached either by : a ramp and 2 flights of steps; or a longer ramp and one final flight of porch steps into the hotel.

Coming from the beach you arrive at this entrance to Theo's, which is new, and is steeper than the public road.

Looking up new drive from road

The public road continues round a corner to the left of the photograph.
Most people coming from the beach naturally walk up this ramp to this position

Theo's access drive and new Car Park area

and then up a single flight of 14 steps (photograph below) up to the old car park area outside Reception.

As a longer (about 50 metres or so) alternative, but cutting out these steps, they can also continue round the corner on the public road and use the main sloping entrance (which Thomsons coaches use).

The private drive you see where my wife is standing also offers a 3rd option of avoiding these steps as it continues past and behind the photographer onto the old hotel car park area.
Obviously whichever option is used you still have to climb the gradient!

The 14 steps referred to climb up behind the large shrub where the rail is.
The lady has just climbed them.

Finally there are 12 easy rise tiled steps to the door from the old car park.

Hotel Front Entrance

Inside the Hotel
The internal hotel steps to the 2 higher floors are all easy rise with wide landings. Most rooms are on the 1st floor reached by 15 steps, and 6 rooms are on the each of the ground and 2nd floors.

The Pool

(Photo below)
The pool which is on higher ground behind the hotel is reached from the 1st floor landing (see brown door below). There is a flight of 19 steps behind the olive tree

followed by a walk of 30 metres up a fairly steep pathway.

After this there are 9 steps up onto the pool itself.
